The general appearance shows an animal with elongated lines with a long and thin neck, sometimes S-shaped, associated with a haughty appearance of the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head is light and stark. The eyes are large and expressive. The ears, long and thin, are located very high. The back is long. The limbs are long and thin with well-marked tendons. The shoulder blade is long and at a correct angle. The chest is deep and oval. The muscles are denser than voluminous. The skin is very thin and the coat is silky. The most famous denomination is Niseus horses. Either way remote origins are difficult to pinpoint for lack of conclusive evidence. Until the seventeenth century the concept of race in the modern sense did not exist. Races were identified with geographical areas and types defined by conformation, performance and usefulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering the geographical area, the Akhal region is located in the south of present<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turkmenist%C3%A1n\">&#8211;<\/a>day\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turkmenist%C3%A1n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turkmenistan<\/a>. The territory of Turkmenistan has been populated since ancient times. Turkmen tribes engaged in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caballos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">horse<\/a>-breeding\u00a0arrived in the territory in ancient times, possibly from the Altai Mountains, and settled on the outskirts of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kara_Kum\">Kara Kum\u00a0<\/a>desert, reaching\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Persia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Persia<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Siria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Syria\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anatolia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anatolia<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rusia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russian\u00a0<\/a>army\u00a0made its entrance into the territory between the 1860s and 1870s. In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1869\">1869\u00a0<\/a>the port of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Krasnovodsk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Krasnovodsk\u00a0<\/a>was created, and already in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1874\">1874\u00a0<\/a>the Russian presence was consolidated with the creation of the military district of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Transcaspia\">Transcaspia<\/a>. Annexed by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Imperio_Ruso\">Russian Empire\u00a0<\/a>between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1865\">1865\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1885\">1885<\/a>, in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1890\">1890\u00a0<\/a>Russian control over\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turkmenist%C3%A1n\">Turkmenistan\u00a0<\/a>was complete. The horses of the Teke tribe were very similar to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turcomanos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turkmen\u00a0<\/a>horses\u00a0raised in neighboring\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Persia\">Persia\u00a0<\/a>(<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ir%C3%A1n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Iran<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Teke used to make expeditions to the south, to steal and capture slaves. Each warrior carried two&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caballos\">horses<\/a>: a purebred saddle horse and a pack horse. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genealog%C3%ADa\">genealogy&nbsp;<\/a>of the best horses was preserved by oral tradition. And these horses were not sold in any way or at any price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turkmenist%C3%A1n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turkmenistan\u00a0<\/a>was conquered\u00a0by the Russians, General Kuropatkin gathered a few Tekke horses and began to breed in a stud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Main skills and uses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Akhal-Teke breed is suitable for almost all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ecuestre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">equestrian\u00a0<\/a>disciplines, especially endurance races and the complete\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Equitaci%C3%B3n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">riding\u00a0<\/a>contest. He has also demonstrated a good aptitude in High School. Horse Abzent and his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jinete\">rider\u00a0<\/a>Serge Filatov won the gold medal in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doma\">High School\u00a0<\/a>at the\u00a01960\u00a0Olympic Games in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rome<\/a>, the bronze medal in 1964 and the gold medal in 1968. The Akhal-Teke is a racing horse, with good movements, good jumper and exceptional endurance. In 1935 a group of Akhal-Teke horses made the trip from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Asjabad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ashgabat\u00a0<\/a>to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mosc%C3%BA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moscow\u00a0<\/a>(4,150\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Km\">km)\u00a0<\/a>and crossing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kara_Kum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kara Kum\u00a0<\/a>desert) in 84 days. As an breed breed, it has been successfully used in many cases. One of the founding foals of the English fine racing blood horse is attributable to the Akhal-Teke breed, the colt known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Byerley_Turk&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Byerley Turk\u00a0<\/a>was reported as a dark brown horse with characteristics of the Akhal-Teke, of great size, large eyes, long neck and tail height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Furs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Main article:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pelajes_del_caballo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horse furs<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caballos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horses<\/a>\u00a0of the breed can be presented with\u00a0very different\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pelaje\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coats<\/a>. Of the four basic coats (black, brown, chestnut, sor) brown is not specifically mentioned but it is very likely that it is included between black and dark brown coats. There are also diluted dun and cream coats. And liarts coats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caballos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horses<\/a>\u00a0with simple or heterozygous cream diluted coats (especially bayo-cream and pigeons) often show a metallic hue that makes body hairs look golden. In white horses ( gray liarts, creams, pearls, &#8230;) with this characteristic the hairs look silvery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No other dilutions or patterns are documented other than those indicated. In Turaniana horses the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pelaje\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">furs\u00a0<\/a>described are more numerous. There is also an explanation of the causes of metallic tonality. There are indirect references to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turcomanos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turkmen\u00a0<\/a>horses\u00a0with leopard coats or pigates in other times.
